The tent shape

What is the best tent shape?

There are many arguments for and against each type of tent from frame to dome tent, geodesic to tunnel tent. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages which are discussed in the "Tent Types" page, see the link below. However, for most family tenting expeditions, as a rule of thumb, the dome or hoop tent is generally considered most suitable due to its inexpensive yet spacious and robust characteristics.

A typical dome tent. Also, being able to sleep in a separate room to the living area is an advantage especially when you have a young family so segregated areas may be important.

Other factors to consider are:-

Height of the tent.
Width and length of the bedrooms.
Width and length of the living area..
Wind resistance impact of the tent if camping in open areas.
Gradient of the wall (can make it difficult to use "sharp corner" areas.
