The camping seasons. A tent for all seasons?

You will need to decide which camping seasons you are likely to be camping in.

Typically, there are three and four season tents available.

Three Season tents are designed for Spring, Summer and Autumn use only. They use lightweight, less expensive materials such as polyester or nylon fabric and fibreglass poles and are designed for recreational use in calm weather. They are ideal for family holidays as they benefit from being inexpensive and spacious but lack stability and strength in high winds.

Four Season tents are suitable for all year use and are constructed from the strongest, lightest and most durable materials available enabling these tents to be used in harsh conditions. However, they can be very expensive.

Generally, unless you are a hardened camping enthusiast, it is advisable to select a three season tent as they are much cheaper and the tent weight factor becomes less of an issue if you are driving to the campsite.
