Factors to consider when buying a camp stove:-

Buying a camp stove with the correct features is an important consideration as badly prepared meals can dampen one of the highlights of camping....enjoying good food prepared in the open air.

  • How many people will you need to cook for? – more people means a larger stove and more burners.
  • How complex will the meals need to be? – complex meals requiring different items to be cooked at different times and at different temperatures will require more burners.
  • Do you need to control the flame, for example, for simmering?
  • How much do you want to spend on the stove? – a few £s will buy a single burner stove. A medium sized budget will enable a lightweight single burner stove or a multi burner stove to be purchased.
An unlimited budget will provide additional features such as toasters, grills, a wind shield, push button ignition and adjustable flame.
  • How much weight (stove and fuel) are you prepared to carry?
  • How readily available is the fuel type used with the stove?
  • How environmentally friendly is the stove and the fuel?
